Former Cover Car
This 34 Chevy Cabriolet is based on a Progressive Automotive frame
that features a Mustang II-type front suspension with chrome tubular upper
and lower A-frames, stainless coil-overs, Mustang spindles and brakes.
Steering is via a Ford rack and pinion adapted to a Buick Regal steering column.
The rear end is from an 82 corvette and utilizes adjustable Carrera shocks
and adjustable stainless strut rod bars.
The original Vette brakes have been replace by polished Wilwood calipers
and Pascht polished aluminum adapters.
Completing the underside is an 18-gallon stainless fuel tank by Tanks
and a full set of Bob Glidden Drag Star wheels
with BFG T/A radials all the way around.
The power train revolves around a big block Chevy 454
that has been treated to a Crane hydraulic cam, forged pistons,
Ken Presnell ported heads, a Weiand intake, 750 holley
and an Accel-modified HEI ignition.
The exhaust system was done in polished stainless using Sanderson block hugger
Coated headers, stainless exhaust, and stainless Super Trapp mufflers.
The polished transmission is a Turbo 350 using an L-88 type torque converter,
followed by a polished aluminum drive shaft.
The PPG Raspberry clear coat paint was applied to the frame
and the bottom of the Downs Manufacturing fiberglass 34 Chevy Cabriolet body
that has been bobbed ten inches, the doors lengthened five inches,
the hood lengthened five inches and a custom hood scoop installed.
Car also features AC/Heat, tilt steering, power trunk, remote power windows,
power antenna, and much more.
