I have some experience with road bikes and hybrids and I am quite shore you will love this bike for transportation or racing. If you've never ridden a quality road bike, you don't know what you're missing. The speed and ease of acceleration is absolutely fantastic. If you aren't in shape and don't like riding or can't keep up with your group, this will make a profound difference. We all see racers speed by and never know how the bike rather than athlete is so responsible. The expensive features make shifting easier and the overall bike lighter and stronger. The bike is mostly assembled in its original box. Extremely similar bikes with many of the same parts sell for over $2300 or much more depending on brand. This is an awesome deal.
This is a silver professional quality road bike. It has many parts, superior to more basic levels. The frame is 7005 double butted aluminum. This is lighter than the lower end of carbon fiber for increased speed and conservation of strength. (Aluminum comes in many qualities. Aluminum is 7000s is very strong and light and is the highest grade I'm aware of. Ski poles range from 3000 to 7000 and range from $20 to over $100 depending on the grade.) The fork is carbon and so is the Seat stay. The derailleurs and shifters are Name brand shimano ultegra 6600. All controls are with the brake levers so you don't need to reach the top of the handle bars to shift like lower quality road bikes. Inside these shifters are more firm, robust, and simple parts for long lasting, consistent pressure when shifting. The part of the brake that touches the wheel is tektro R530. This has a special hinge upgrade so there is even pressure on both sides of the wheel, so there is more breaking power and less off-center force on light weight road bike wheels. Wheels, vuelta XRP pro, have precision bearings rather than cheaper ones with ball bearings, are made of strengthened aluminum. The crank is fairly high grade aluminum. Handle bars, seat post are aluminum. Clipless pedals that go with SPD bolt pattern. It has 30 speeds. Cassette and chain are shimano 105, which is mid range. It is a pretty silver color.
