Originating in the Mediterranean area and descending from the Barbet or Water Spaniel, the Bichon Frise have been appreciated for their dispositions for years. Accepted by the American Kennel Club in 1973, this small powder puff is enjoying renewed popularity after a brief decline in the 1970’s. Distinguished by its double coat consisting of soft corkscrew curls, this pooch gives a fluffy appearance. The Bichon’s color is white; however markings of cream, buff or apricot are acceptable. Bichons excel as show dogs as their coats are exquisite and temperament is mannered.
