MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED, 21 years of age, no felony or domestic violence convictions, valid Arizona Driver's License, and proof of legal U.S. residency.
SELECTION PROCESS: Applicant must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for employment. Applicants will be required to submit an employment application, and successfully complete a written examination, oral interview, medical/physical exam, psychological exam, background check and pre-employment drug test.
NOTE: Applicants who successfully complete the selection process as described above must attend and complete the Correctional Officer Training Academy (COTA), located in Tucson, Arizona, for nine weeks. Upon successful completion of the COTA training, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion in Correctional Technology with 21 college credit hours.
Incentive pay is available for Correctional Officers who are assigned to the various State Prison Complexes as follows: Winslow and Apache($2,600 annually). Other state prison complexes are located in Buckeye, Florence, Douglas, Tucson, Phoenix, Goodyear, Safford, Yuma, Arizona. Placement of a Correctional Officer is determined by the Recruitment Unit for Selection and Hiring (RUSH).
