Summary of elder-care experience:Approximately 15 years, longest = about 6 years with Alzheimer's patient in Raleigh, NC, and the shortest was with a bedridden gentleman who was a stroke and cancer victim (about three months). I have experience with a bedridden woman (about two years) and with Lou Gehrig's patient who required trachial suction, etc (4-5 months).Any of the patients' families will provide an excellent reference. Some duties included: catheter bags, bed-bathing, cooking, light housekeeping, bath assistance (for non-bedridden patients. bedpan assistance, tube feeding, and many more details too numerous to type. I am flexible and willing to travel up to a couple of hundred miles if the assignment is for at least five day/nights (prefer to have time off during the week if possible). My preference would be to be assigned to a job close to home for four days/nights (live-in) and then have three days/nights off, but this is definitely negotiable. I have CNA training manuals/CDs and have perused them. I don't have a CNA license but have performed (on the job) almost all of the procedures outlined in the manuals and do intuitively follow their guidelines in most cases. I attended some in-service classes through an agency in Raleigh,NC about ten years ago. I am willing, pending time and financial ability, to obtain a CNA - just haven't been able to schedule nor had the money to attend classes (about 20 or 25 miles away). I like computer work and would enjoy using these skills if someone who needs caregiving also does work on a computer. I have learned many programs and troubleshot hardware/software programs for many friends and am comfortable learning new programs. Any of the families that I have worked for in the past will give excellent references. I will provide you with phone numbers if you want to talk further.
