Why call a "big company" that charges you top-dollar for a simple-fix and inexpensive solution? I am lEPA certified and have the same training their guys do, and don't have to pay for 45 trucks and technicians to be on-call all the time. I simply don't have the overhead they do, so I don't have to charge ANYWHERE NEAR as much as they do. ALL the big companies charge too much for simple repair work, and EVERY ONE OF THEM wants to sell you a new system.
I am a terrible salesman. That's what they used to tell me when I worked for them years ago. Silly me, I would rather REPAIR the issue than sell you something and make a commission. I only recommend a new system if it is over 10 years old, OR it is working terribly and is in poor shape. I am not going to sell you a maintenance agreement. Call me if you have a problem, and change your filters regularly. Most general maintenance can be done by the homeowner, so why pay someone to come every month or two?
I ENCOURAGE you to price around. I know that no licensed company can match-up with my numbers. Some of the big guys have this "19.99 special" where they come and check everything out. That's great. feel free to do it. I ask you to cover my gas, usually $10 or so. Here is where I differ from them...They just want to get their "foot-in-the-door" and sell you something. USUALLY a maintenance agreement. I will tell you how it is running, make some recommendations, and leave you my number. If you want to price around the work I suggested, that's fine. If and when you ring me back to do the work, no problem. No pressure. No one calling you to "remind you" of anything later on. The ball is ALWAYS in your court.
Here is the proof that I am cheaper...
A coil to be pulled and cleaned, I usually charge about $225. Provided it is not in an attic, has easy access to the condensor, etc. I know for a FACT that one company charges $350, and another MAJOR company that advertises on billboards and the radio charges $495. Why? OVERHEAD. You are paying for the advertising, and that technician's salary...As well as the other 4 that are at the office drinking coffee, PLUS the managers and office staff.
Here's more proof...COmpanies charge anywhere from $20-30 per pound for freon balancing. I have charged $15 for years, and ALWAYS give you the first pound for free. When I see you are low, I give you an estimate as to how low you are and about what your total bill will be. BEFORE I do the work.
I do NOT charge $60 an hour for labor, a minimum $55 service call fee, NOR do I charge the exorbitant $75 fee for a weekend/holiday/after-hours call. You get a price when I see the job, and if you don't want me to do it for whatever reason, cover my gas. $10 is fair usually.
In response to all the other pretenders offering their services on here, I AM A LICENSED, CERTIFIED, AND INSURED contractor. Most of you are not. They work out of minivans, cars, or are doing it illegally on-the-side after working for a big company. THEY are not licensed unless on-the-clock. Their parts? STOLEN from their employer!
I have my own truck, a few helpers, a partner who is a licensed contractor with insurance, and all my own tools. My truck is CLEAN, new, and will not leak oil onto your driveway. I am a professional, as you will see when you call me.

If you are worried about mold being in your ductwork, you are not alone. Over 90% of homes in Florida have mold. Your evaporator coil is a breeding ground for molds because it is a dark, damp place for it to grow. When the air is on, it blows over this coil to give you cold air. That's how it gets into your ductwork, and into your lungs.
Having the guys you have read and heard about come out with their brush system is great for getting rid of DUST in your ductwork, but it DOES NOT KILL THE MOLD AT ALL. It can remove SOME of the buildup on the surface of the fiberglass, but mold is like an infection that must be treated with medication...Like if you had bronchitis or pneumonia, so to speak.
I use a fogging/misting system to KILL the mold, and render the offensive particulates inert. The solution is EPA approved, GREEN for the environment, and ABSOLUTELY safe to breathe. You can be home while I am doing the job, and it doesn't take long at all to do.
The VERY few companies I see advertising this service charge about $30 for each vent. I am well-under that price, and I honestly prefer to see the job before giving an estimate because if it is an easy job, I charge accordingly.
I don't feel the need to overcharge you like most companies, because honestly I don't have the overhead they do and not a day in the past 8 years has gone by when a customer has not mentioned that I am just so much less expensive than anyone out there. This is quality work by a licensed professional, and I don't send someone else to do it either. The person you talk to is the one coming to your home.
If your coil is dirty as well, we offer the service to remove and clean/sanitize/mold-proof it as well. We are not trying to sell you anything you don't need, and all our work is guaranteed. So if you need any work done at all, ring me. I am happy to help, and look forward to having you as a new customer.
