Investment Grade Oil and Watercolor Gouache Painting by Listed Artist Charles Edouard Delort (French 1841-1895) Signed "C. DeLort" at lower right. Depicts a Pickpocket with Red Umbrella & Lady with Luggage in Front of train Station. Artist's Auction Records in excess of $50,000 for his creations. Size of Image: 20 1/2"H x 16 3/4"W: Size of Image in Frame: 30 3/4" x 27"W. In Delort's later life, he lost the use of his right hand to paralysis and continued to paint using his left hand until his death. The work is in excellent condition of its age. The glass is original: the frame has some expected chipping around the perimeter's edge and a small detail of the frame's ornate wooden desing has chipped off over the last century: frame can be very easily professionally repaired. There is a small tear of the paper near the edge of the frame to the lower right: which in no way depreciates the value of this masterpiece: however is worth mention. New York Provenance: In possession of Tercher Estate since 1907 (written provenance in pencil on frame)
