Babywearing is a great joy. One of the extra benefits is the availablility of beautiful babywearing options. We have about 70 choices of ring slings, pouch slings, and baby wraps in our Etsy shop at www.lilpeeperkeepers.etsy.com.
This lightweight 100% cotton jersey knit baby wrap is edged with close pink overlock. Now you don't end up seeing it much since jersey like this will naturally roll. And it does take a lot more time. But, we think it's probably worth the extra effort. Not only does finishing the jersey make a more professional finish to the wrap, but it also helps protect the edges. AND it helps you find the edges of the wrap. Besides, the coordiating pink will peek out every now and again, reminding you of the extra details -- like the decorative stitch used to attach the front cotton panel.
Because of the decorative stitching used on this wrap along the panel, the wrap is beautiful on the reverse side, too, if you don't want to use the wrap as an accent to your outfit! Two for one =)
A center cotton panel marks the beginning point for wrapping. A row of decorative stitching accents the long edges of the front panel. The front "markers" can be a few inches to the side, off-center. This simply means that the ending knot will probably be either by your hip, or behind you, depending on your body shape. Our wraps are about 15 feet long, the common most versatile length, allowing them to be used for just about any hold.
Just machine wash cold: tumble dry low. All seams are edged with a close overlock to prolong the life of the wrap and add a professional look.
We will include with your purchase a babywearing DVD that includes a section on using your baby wraps. This helps you to confidently and safely use the wrap as a new babywearere OR give the wrap as a baby shower gift, knowing that you provided the explanation of how to use the wrap, too!!
The DVD will walk you through the steps of a front carry, facing out and facing in, hip carry, and back carry for a toddler (back carries are considered advanced by this mama, especially so with babies!!) The instructional DVD will be included with your purchase, making it ideal for personal use or gift-giving.
You can use a wrap from the infant stage up through heavy toddler age (35 pounds or so).
ABOUT LI'L PEEPER KEEPER CARRIERS: Great care has been taken to make sure that these carriers are sewn with quality and safety in mind. Pouches are sewn with a reinforced seam, known as a French seam, to shape the carrier. Ring sling fabrics are chosen with care as to style and strength, and each sling is carefully reinforced at the rings.
Babywearing is both a joy and a responsibility. Although Babywearing is simple, it will take practice and precations, just like anything else. Don’t expect you or your baby to “sling like a pro” the very first time. Keep at it – it’s worth the effort!
Some precautions to take while wearing your baby:
1. Always check the carrier first for signs of wear or any rips. Don’t use if damaged.
2. Practice holds with a stuffed animal before trying them on your baby.
3. Use common sense while wearing – i.e. do not bend from waist. Don’t use around the water, while cooking, showering, or other potentially hazardous activities.
4. Always make sure your baby has sufficient airflow.
5. Remove baby from sling before placing in bed.
6. While making adjustments, always make sure the baby’s weight is supported.
7. If a child is fighting against going into the sling, wait until he is calm and try again.
8. If a child is fussing after being placed in the sling, talk to him, pat back, move around, just as you would normally do to soothe a child.
9. Follow safety guidelines: you use at your own risk, accepting the responsibility for the safety of your child.
