he raspy overdriven tone of the high impedance Shure 585 "Unisphere A" made it the microphone of choice of the great James Cotton!
Harp friendly with the easily gripped ball on one end, a 5/8” screw fitting on the other and features a feedback rejecting unidirectional pickup pattern. Killer tone, similar to the “Butterfield” 545, but with just a bit more grit and is easier to hold on to than the straight stick. I have medium sized hands and can get a nice tight cup with this mic, feels like it might be a bit large for those with very small hands but good for anyone else.
Nice presentable example in good working order… looks great on stage. Plating is nice but does have a small scrape as shown in the photos. The stainless mesh ball is shiny and has zero corrosion: silghtly indented (also shown) but still presents well on stage. The screw connector threads are in clean undamaged condition. No tobacco staining or odor. The switch moves ok but stays on regardless of the position it is in, spraying it with contact cleaner had no effect, the mic works just fine.
