The most spectacular gold medallions ever produced in South Africa by Tretchikoff
depicting The Ten Commandments. This collection is number 0083 of an edition limited to
500. Each of the ten medallions bears the hallmarks of the minter testifying to
the precious metal content and the year of the manufacturer.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
This is to certify that this Ten Commandments by Tretchikoff precious metal replica collection.
Each of the Ten replicas in the set contains 40 grams of 18-carat gold and measures approximately
42 mm x 31.5 mm x 2.5 mm. Each medallion bears the hallmarks of the minter and the SABS, testifying to
the precious metal content and the year of manufacture. The Valuation and the issue price of the set
was R3,450 at the date of issue.
The rand was even with the dollar back in the 70's.
First medallion arrived in August 1978.
The first medallion depicts the first commandment, "Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me" This we feel is one
of the most spectacular medallions ever produced in South Africa, depicting as it does the face of Moses as the receiver
of the Commandments in the foreground and in the background the "other gods" depicted by the golden mask of an Egyptian
pharoah, the other sun-god and an African voodoo god.
Tretchikoff observed the minting and all the exact standards needed.
