Lenny, an Umbrella Cockatoo, was born in 1955. I am his 2nd owner and have had him for 15 years. His previous owner, a lady from NC, had to give him up due to a messy divorce which left her without the means to care for him properly.
I have made the very hard decision to find him a fabulous new home because of the relationship between Lenny and my husband. As soon as I started seriously dating my husband Lenny became very jealous. The decline in his huge word vocabulary was the first sign that Lenny was unhappy. He stopped talking. This was very hard for me because up until this point a lot of our communication was done verbally. I have been with Jack, my husband, now for over three years, and Lenny still has remained mostly silent. He will say his name, “hello,” “Bird,” and a few other simple statements which include some off color remarks.
Lenny doesn’t like Jack and Jack doesn’t like Lenny. I can’t even hug Jack without Lenny protesting with loud screams. I know Lenny isn’t the happy bird he used to be, and to gain peace in my home I feel it is best to find Lenny a new home.
Lenny is my snuggle companion. He loves nothing more than to sit on my lap, or to be held. Like most cockatoos he is very loving. He needs someone who enjoys playing with him and loving on him as much as possible.
Lenny is very easy to read. He simply loves you unconditionally or wants nothing to do with you. I would prefer someone who has had some bird experience. When you meet him you won’t have to guess whether or not he is the bird for you. If he likes you he will easily get on your hand and expect some rubbing. If he doesn’t like you he will ignore you completely. It’s that simple.
I want to keep Lenny’s transfer to a new home as easy as possible. That is why I will also be giving his new owner all the “bird stuff” I own. That includes:
1 large dome top bird cage (67” height x 40” width x 30” depth). The cage is only 2 years old and is simply beautiful.
1 rolling cage to move from room to room. The cage is dome top and 55” from the floor with a cage space of 31” height x 24” width x 16” depth.
1 shower perch
5 cage perches
1 swinging perch
4 food bowls
1 month supply of Zupreem food
2 month supply of millet
Toys
And more
Lenny is a very healthy bird. Our vet always marvels at his age, saying how he looks 20 years younger than he really is. He has had a vet visit every year just to make sure he is healthy. His has never had any medical problems. He’ll probably live until the good old age of 80, which is normal for his breed. Within 4 days you can take him to your vet and if there are any problems I will gladly accept his return.
I have a thousand pictures of Lenny. Also, I have pictures of his cage and other accessories. I will gladly send you any photos you would like. Please send any questions to: ......

Lenny is located in Spartanburg, SC, which is in the upstate (near the border of NC), and 1.5 hours from our capital Columbia.
